Sean Sullivan: the life of a Yorkshire Actor

I'm Sean Sullivan, an actor born and raised in Hemsworth, West Yorkshire currently based in Sheffield. I'm studying acting and performance at Sheffield Hallam University.

Before I came to Sheffield I studied HND Performing arts acting and BTEC Performing arts acting at Wakefield College, and i studied GCSE Drama at St. Wilfrid's Catholic High school.

Whilst at St Wilfrid's I was a part of a school production of Sister Act where I played 4 characters: Ernie, Drag Queen, Cab Driver and Altar boy. I learned a lot from this show such as, how to multi-role, sing and dance.

Whilst at Wakefield College I saw a huge leap in the quality of my acting because of shows such as, DNA by Dennis Kelly where I played the character Adam. Also at my time there I learned how to devise theatre. We devised a piece called Prevent, this production was created to educate people on modern issues, in this case it was teaching the audience about County lines.

I acted in a short movie called Oliver's Interview which was directed and Written by Declan McHale. This is my first time acting for camera so this was a great learning experience for me. I played the character Jack who is a quiet actor who isn't a very nice person, who is scared of the main character (Oliver) who is a serial killer.

I enjoy playing characters that have a lot of emotional depth as I feel that I can really push out the emotions and make people react to what I say and become fully invested in not only the character but the production as a whole.

Other than acting, I have been doing Professional wrestling training on and off since 2017. I did this because I love wrestling and I am very passionate about it. It is also another way for me to perform and entertain people. I decided to do both acting and Wrestling because I can use skills that I gain from each field and become more of a confident, well rounded and unique performer.

  • Hi Sean, this a really good bio. You've broken the text up nicely, and you've given a good account of your previous experiences. I love your background in wrestling training, and I wonder if you might find further opportunities to explore more physical performance styles. Also, if you can, you should share your film work with us here on the community. I'd love to watch some!

  • Lots of key infomation and understanding of what you have done within your acting experiences.
