Typical typical. Very punk

Typical typical. Very punk

Typical girls is a very eye-opening and moving show which brings a big look at the problems withins the prison system towards women.

The story is about five women who were violent offenders as a result of their different mental health problems, these women are then given music lessons and begin to form their own punk band. They are then working towards a gig but are "snubbed" by negative press which means they are stopped by the prison and have their gig taken away.

The play shows the ways in which music can bring people together and help people express themselves in a positive way, they portrayed these characters very well to where it felt real and not over the top with their portrayal of these issues.

The play also had many jokes that tied in well to the narrative of the show, these jokes combat the way that society views offenders and people with mental health struggles.

I enjoyed the music that was made in the show and it was very interesting to see the way that the teacher dealt with the five girl's mental health to get them involved in the making of their music.

I think that the show was very engaging and interesting to watch and brings more attention to bigger issues within society

  • Nice piece, Ronin! 😊 You've done a good job of identifying the mental health struggles at the heart of the play. Glad you enjoyed the music!
