CASTING CALL FOR A SHORT COMEDY - UNPAID - SHEFFIELD
We are looking for actors to be in our final year uni short film, Sandwich Suspicions. The film is a parody of 1940s noir films, similar in tone to the Naked Gun movies. This would be an unpaid role but travel costs and food will be provided.
Synopsis:
When his beloved sandwich is stolen, a hard-boiled, morally grey, private eye must investigate those closest to him to find the culprit. As the case unfolds he finds the sandwich is just the tip of the iceberg...lettuce. (You know iceberg lettuce? Like on a sandwich? Right guys?)
Roles
Lee:
(18-25) Shares a house with the rest of the characters. After his Sandwich is stolen, he begins to imagine a scenario where he is investigating his housemates as if he is a private detective. He takes the whole situation way too seriously. He also believes he is the worlds greatest detective and will stop at nothing to find the culprit.
Dina:
(18-25) a forensics expert in Lee’s detective daydream. She ends up being the sandwich thief. She stages a robbery to make it look like a robber took the sandwich because she felt so guilty for eating it. She always means well.
Samantha:
(18-25) is the femme fetale character in the detective scenario. She’s the most sensible out of the group, in both real life and in the daydream. She is constantly confused by the others shenanigans and often ends up being the voice of reason.
Greg:
(18-25) is a mobster character in the detective scenario. His alibi is that he was shooting someone who owed him money at the time the sandwich was stolen. In real life he is very nice and is extremely concerned that the robber didn’t recycle the wrappers after eating all their food.
Henry:
(18-25) is the red herring in the detective scenario. He comes in covered in sandwich fillings, making him look extremely suspicious. He confesses he was just trying to recreate Lee’s sandwich, the mess was the result of the first few attempts to get the sandwich right. He is a man of few words but is very observant.
We’re aiming to shoot the main film around February 2023. We are also making a proof of concept as part of our assignment, looking to shoot around the 24th of October to the 4th of November this year. Lee and Dina will be the only characters featured in the proof of concept as its only going to be around 3-5 minutes long.
