An insight into my acting career

An insight into my acting career

My name is Charlotte O’Looney, an aspiring actress, currently studying in Sheffield at Sheffield Hallam University. I was born and grew up in Northampton where I had the opportunity to take part in various shows such as A Christmas Carol in 2012 directed by Gary Sefton, A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2013 directed by Gary Sefton and Wind in the Willow’s in 2014 at my local theatre, from the age of 10. From then on, I fell in love with performing and the theatre and I knew then, at such an early age that I wanted to become an actress. In the past I have taken English Speaking Board exams which allowed me to confidently speak publicly about certain topics I was passionate about. I also took LAMDA examinations which taught me how to act through facial expressions and my tone of voice, which is really helpful now.

I am lucky enough to already have some experience when it comes to being in front of a camera. Some of my work included being a double for the main character Connie, in the film “The Incredible Adventures of Professor Branestawm” where I got to work with actors such as Harry Hill and David Mitchell. This was extremely interesting to watch and see how they put it all together from filming it in small pieces to then airing it on the big screen.

I was also cast to be in an advert for a company called My Dentist which was aired on TV in Yorkshire. My most recent work was being in a documentary series which was aired in the UK on SKY Discovery ID and in the USA on Investigation Discovery. The series is called "Predator at Large" and i appear in episode 3 "Such a pretty girl". My episode is a reconstruction for the death of Carrie Ann Jopek for the company October Films and I starred as Carrie and was able to work skilfully behind the camera with the crew and on screen too.

My experience with singing has also put me at an advantage with my career as an actress. I took singing lessons in years 7-8 and always took part in many Northampton Music Festivals where I sang with my school choir and was given solos to sing in front of an audience. This was beneficial when it came to auditioning to get into my current acting agency, Daisy and Dukes, which now puts me up for all sorts of roles in the theatre and film industry.

Hopefully, with 8 years of experience on stage and infront of the camera, over the next couple of years I will be able to be taught how to act professionally and continue my career into the theatre and film industry.
