Beginning of a new journey

Beginning of a new journey

I Bashar Almatar, I’m from Syria, which is an Arabic Culture, my aim is to perform in this kind of background. Whilst I was living in Syria I was at University studying my first year in medicine Tishreen University (Sep 2105), as well as I was learning English.

I arrived to the United Kingdom in (Aug 2016), and went to Rotherham College and studied IT and computing, I achieved my Level 3 diploma degree in (May 2020), and currently doing Ba acting & performances in Sheffield Hallam University.

I have a big passion for acting, drama and performances. Although I don’t really have any experiences in acting and performance as in my country is quite different to here, I’m hoping to start and build a career in the acting industry as it has always been a dream for me to become an actor and stage performer.

I truly believe the Arab Culture is not present enough in the UK theatres, and I would like to bring more inspiration, stimulation and encouragement to the acting industry which includes (drama, performing, voice recording, etc…) to the people who want to follow my footsteps in the industry.

As a child on my school reports, I was the one who was confident, clever and bright in performing presentation to the class, I kept my hard-work, feedback always about improving. My work was always outstanding, and I did nothing but try my best regardless from a young age.

I held myself back from distraction so I could focus on studying, I was always a bright spark who listened to everything I was taught, I was the kid who jotted everything down, so I knew I always had something to look back on.

Since living in the UK, and having a passion for acting and performances, I have been to theatres and watched people perform, such as Aladdin, Dirty Dancing and Cinderella, this is what made me realise sooner than later that I want to do acting and performances as a career.

I have always wanted to pursue my dreams of becoming an actor with nothing getting in my way.

  • Bash, this is a great first blog. Even though you don't have lots of experience as a performer, your passion comes through, and you're evidently a really hard worker, so I'm sure you'll quickly gain experiences and grow in confidence. I think looking for ways to engage with and contribute to the presence of Arab culture in the uk would be a really great thing to do, and is something we can look to support during your time with us. Also, I really enjoyed watching your performance at the Endcliffe Park trip. Good work! :)

  • Very good first blog, lists what you want to achieve and how it's important to you.

Good insight on your past experiences too with an interesting title! :)
