Doppelgangster, SHU Performance Company 20 and La Trobe University present Bad Reputation|Off the Shelf Festival 2020

An urgent dramatic response to life under lockdown, from internationally acclaimed political-activist theatre company Doppelgangster.

From the visionary theatre-makers behind TREEFXXXERS (Season for Change, National Tree Charter 2018) and Choke Me (Off the Shelf 2019) comes a mesmerising and psychedelic tale of three lighthouse keepers imperilled by oppressive fog on an isolated island. When a ship ignores their light and smashes into the rock nothing prepares them for what’s on board.

Featuring surreal performances by BA Acting & Performance students (Sheffield Hallam University) and BA Creative Arts students (La Trobe University, Melbourne), Doppelgangster cranks up the horror and tension in this audio work inspired by Three Skeleton Key by George Toudouze.

Bad Reputation is a dazzling, mesmerising and thrilling audio artwork inspired by life under lockdown. Text-based, postdramatic, political satire, featuring a talented company of emerging artists, and a violent and anarchic experimental jazz score.

Doppelgangster is one of the world’s leading environmental and political activist theatre companies and has staged controversial performances at UN Climate Talks, corporate expositions, and public demonstrations.
