A Dream Turned To Reality

A Dream Turned To Reality

My name is Summer Myers, i am 18 years old and from Sheffield. I have chosen to study this course as i have always had a passion for performing and I believe that this course allow me to showcase my passion and also help me gain skills that I may be able to use in my future career. Also this course will also show me different aspects of theatre and how things work when not on stage, this may help me decide what career i would like to persue in the future. Within this course I would like to look at how to make my emotions and body language on stage look more genuine and realistic and learn how to throw my voice so i can make my performances more effective. This course also focusses on different troubles in society and how we can help them. By showing these problems in the performances, we show all generations of people that things need to change, therefore making a better impact on society. Over time, i believe that this course will enable me to delve deeper into the field of theatre and learn about every aspect of theatre life.

In college, my chosen course was Performing arts as i had been in love with performing on stage for yeaars beforehand. Within this course we had been given the choice of studying Dance or Drama. I had always loved dancing so i chose this as my course path. However over time, we did more and more acting pieces along side the dance performances and i started to fall in love with the idea of acting. My favourite experience with acting was when i took part in the shakespeare school festival where i played the part of Hermia from Shakespeares play A midsummer Night's Dream. I enjoyed playing this part as i was able to portray what kind of sharacter she is. She is a fearful, hopeful, bewildered and joyful character. I also played the part of Rizzo in grease, this was only a small production as it was part of a 2 hour long school performance whichj included other acts too. I enjoyed playing this part as i enjoyed portraying a strong character who has a completely different personality to me. However the first big performance i did on stage was in the crucible where i performed as part of my schools production of macbeth. The part i played was lady macbeth. I enjoyed playing this part as it was a much more mature part and it was the first time i performed in a professional environment with lighting and sound effects.

I would love to persue an acting career in the future as i have always loved being infront of an audience as it gives me such a thrill. I believe that this course will open up oopportunities that could make that dream possible for me.
