My first steps into creativity

My first steps into creativity

Hi I'm hallie, I'm 18 and originally from Northamptonshire.

Originally a passion for acting wasn't something I was born with. As a kid I was always creative, I used to draw, paint, dance and sing, never competitively just as a hobby. I wanted to be on a stage singing until year 7 where I fell in love with my drama class, teacher and the subject but even then I never thought about it as a career I just knew I loved doing it. Year 10 choosing GCSE's was where I knew I wanted to act. I worked really hard in year 11 to get a good grade in drama as I knew college would be an even better acting experience and I wanted to sharpen my talent before going. I went to northampton college and once again found an even stronger love for the subject.

I wasn't planning on going to university ever really however when I realised if I didn't go I might not be able to act for multiple years until I get a job in the industry that made up my mind and I knew I had to carry on learning and improving.

  • We'll be tapping into that joy of singing a bit this year, Hallie. A university degree is a wonderful thing to have. And you're absolutely right. Studying acting and performance gives you three years to dive into a passion. We are delighted to have you with us.

  • Your journey into acting is a testament to the power of discovery and passion. It's remarkable how you transitioned from various creative interests like drawing, painting, dancing, and singing to discovering your love for drama in year 7. The genuine affection you developed for the subject and your dedicated efforts in year 11 show your determination to sharpen your acting talent. Your decision to pursue acting in college only deepened your connection to the craft. Your realisation that university could be a stepping stone to continuing your acting journey in the industry is a wise one. It's inspiring to see your commitment to learning and improving, even when faced with unexpected turns in your path. Best of luck on your continued journey in the world of acting here at Sheffield Hallam University!
