Playing with plays : My journey in performing.

Playing with plays : My journey in performing.

My name is Sophie Louise Underwood. I am an inspiring actor born in Doncaster, based in Sheffield. Currently studying Acting and Performance at Sheffield Hallam University.

My performing career started at high school, I was able to gain more of an understanding to acting and learn different attributes that there are in creating a performance. This introduced me to directing, costume and set design for various performances. I could appreciate the significance of these roles in order to create the final production.

I had the opportunity to work alongside Adobe to create voiceovers for tutorials on how to use the programme Adobe Spark Post. During this project, I gained skills such as how to articulate my voice correctly and how to use a welcoming, friendly tone.

I have taken part in directing plays such as Annie by Thomas Meehan. Devising has been a strong point for me in creating performances with a focused stimulus such as a quote from Emma Rice.

By doing this course, I hope to gain further knowledge of the acting industry. I also aim to grow my skills and discover further how I can use theatre to portray messages and create awareness. I hope to gain some further Acting experience in this industry. In the future, I aspire to be a teacher, I would like to be able to encourage others to be open and express themselves. I want to make a difference.

  • Hello Sophie! Welcome to the community. This is a great introductory blog. It's good to be able to read your bio and get to know you a little bit here. I'd love to hear your Adobe Spark Post voiceovers. Maybe you can incorporate them into your website when it's ready. :)

  • This is a really great blog, sounds like you have some good experience!! I love the title too, super engaging :)
