Typical Girls: from rebellion to rhythmic

Typical Girls: from rebellion to rhythmic
  • Typical Girls was a thrilling play to go and watch, it was about a group of women who are in a specialised unit in prison. A lady regularly visits to provide music workshops for them. The women sing rebellious punk music and play musical instruments such as the drums and electric guitars, inspired by the slits.

I haven’t been able to watch theatre in person for such a long time, it was refreshing to finally have the chance to go watch a play in person again. There is a distinctive difference between watching plays online and in a theatre.

The atmosphere was amazing at the Crucible. It was lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves and it was nice going with people who enjoyed the theatre as much as I did. I specifically enjoyed the audience engagement and how the actors directly looked at the audience members at certain points.

The songs were catchy and the actors’ energy was enthusiastically engaging. The best thing about the performance for me was that each character was equally as important and that I could emotionally connect and understand each one.
