Hi! I'm Georgie 🫶 I'm from Sheffield (about 20 mins from the city centre). I will be commuting during my time at Hallam and can't wait to get to know everyone! I'm 18 and have had a passion for drama for as long as I can remember. As I live locally, lots of live theatre I have watched has been in the Crucible or Lyceum and I aspire to one day perform there myself. I have a love for film and old movies, I even studied film at A level. I can't wait to look at some screen acting, as I spent most of drama in school focusing on stage acting. Â
A performance that inspired me was in the film La La Land. I am mesmerised by Emma Stone’s ability to act with her face so subtly; she made her character both believable and relatable as a fellow aspiring actress. As well as this, she created a fantasy musical-style romance with Gosling’s character that felt purposefully vintage and ‘too perfect’. I think the acting so seamlessly blends from old film romance to painfully realistic and relatable as a modern day aspiring actress. This influenced my perspective as it showed me the large impact that such small facial expressions and movements can help to convey a character.
At Hallam, I aspire to expand my acting abilities with new experiences and communications within the university. As I have had stage acting experience since I was a child, I feel excited to explore screen acting and digital elements of acting which wasn’t accessible to me through school or as a child. Whilst I have more experience with stage, I enjoy comedy and would love to one day take part in voiceovers for characters in cartoon form for example, which is something very different from stage.
