Act without Expectation - A short introduction to me...

Hi I'm Megan, An 18 year old aspiring actor. Originally from the smallest county in England, Rutland, a very small town with an average of three shops, a charity shop and a lot of cows and I don't just mean the animals...

Drama to me is a release. A chance to escape and become something or someone I am not. It allows me to push past boundaries that, in the past, caged me in. Performing lets me unleash and become a completely different and confident person on stage. The desire to act grew more as I explored further into the world of theatre.

My first acting role came when I earned the part of Rizzo in Grease. This was also my first chance to show my singing voice. I found the experience both exciting and exhilarating so I was then determined to take part in as many performances I could to repeat this experience and develop further skills. Alongside performing, I have also participated in a range of theatre roles, working on stage crew, mics, lighting, and front of house duties. This has given me a greater understanding of the wider context of theatre . During year 10 ,2018, I helped create a drama group called ‘Encore Theatre’ and we co-wrote and directed a play called  Three’s a crowd which we performed in The All England Theatre Festival at Bridlington Spa. We placed 2nd overall and won a range of awards including Best actor, Best moment and Best set. The adjudicator commended my performance for portraying an older role successfully which definitely became my biggest personality trait for a few weeks.

My A Level studies in photography has given me the chance to explore the technical use of a camera and develop knowledge on how to create effective shots and angles. This experience has helped my understanding of positioning, foregrounds, proxemics between actors, composition and many more key drama elements. During my A level experience I created a personal investigation about Mental Health and used my new  skills in camera work to help portray the effects and the aftermath of a Mental Illness.
