Infinite Nothings Theatre was formed in 2018 by myself and Elisabeth Marriott during 'Show Business; Or the Business of Making Shows'. Having performed Performance Though Time (2018), we are now preparing for BLOODLINES: Macbeth (Thurs 28th Feb & Fri 1st March), From the Heart (29th March) & BLOODLINES: Romeo & Juliet (June). BLOODLINES is a series which is soon going to be taken into schools in and around South Yorkshire.
In the beginning..
Zoe and I began auditioning actors in November 2018, and we soon cast our 9-member ensemble in parts for both plays; Romeo & Juliet and Macbeth. For example, Joseph Hanley, also a recent SHU graduate, is portraying Macduff (Macbeth) and also Mercutio (Romeo & Juliet).
Getting things going
Soon after the Christmas period was over, we had a big rehearsal were almost everyone was involved, however we didn't feel as though the ensemble worked as a group well together. Therefore, Zoe and I devised a rehearsal purely to exercise the casts focus and developing the feeling of being an ensemble. After this, we noticed a HUGE change in the actors attitudes to each other and coming to rehearsals.
A few hiccups along the way ...
However, everything did not go as well as we initially planned, and three weeks before BLOODLINES: Macbeth a main character had left for an acting position in Italy, therefore he was unable to perform. But this did not discourage the cast and they're all excited to perform in a few days time.
Show Week!
Set = built, Costume = ordered, Tickets = selling fast, Cast = excited and all ready to go!

Seconded! Well done all. I was impressed by the clearly coordinated approach to preparing and staging a new piece of work by a new company. This is really promising stuff. And you've gathered an exciting crew (performers and others) around you so you're building important relationships and developing your capacity to move forward! Here's to the next one! :)
I went to see Bloodlines (Macbeth) on Friday night and was really proud of the whole team. The first production, for a new Theatre Company, is the hardest. You have to make every decision and trust your gut, in terms of what is right and wrong. For the first time, there is no one there to help you. It is down to you.
However, once you have staged your first production, you have a track record. You have photos and posters and audience responses. You know better where you can rehearse, where you can perform and how to get an audience. You will have reflected on the mistakes you made first time and put things in place to rectify them. You will know that you can do it!
The thing that also impressed me was there there was a clear creative voice behind the production. It looked contemporary. It was bold and imaginative. Ultimately, if you are going to stand out from the crowd, the uniquness of your 'Voice' is the thing that is so important. I think I saw signs of a new 'voice' developing with Infinite Nothings and that was, for me, the most exciting thing
Can't wait to see this tomorrow night!
