Creative writing: Poems and People

Creative writing: Poems and People

When I joined the acting course I did not think there would be so much poetry involved. Which is why, even as I write this weeks into the course I am surprised we've had to deal with two poems a week, even creating one of our own based on the theme of immigration. I called mine a better tomorrow

"open arm

Warm hug

Feeling helpless

Like a bug

Dark past

Hopeful mind

You are welcomed

By the kind

You may be scared

Or full of sorrow

But fear not

A better tomorrow"

This has been the part of the course I have enjoyed the most, as I think it's been the one that has involved the most creativity and one that actually lead to more work as we got into groups and mixed each other poems together to make one that will be the basis of our performance for walking with amal. Everyone wrote amazing poems and were really supportive of each other as they read theirs out to the whole group, a task I was excited about as I was proud of what I had written. And it was a good change of pace from the usual poem task.
