Endcliffe: Stepping into a new world

In the Netherlands, a lot of nature looks the same. Flat forests, trees neatly lined up, maybe a few hills and fields of flowers. But to see a lot of difference you often have to travel for a while. When I heard about going to Endcliffe I expected to see a big, green, field of grass with a few trees.

I was taken by surprise however. Yes there was a big, green, field of grass, but there was also an amazing forest. Every step you take takes you to a wildly different place. Beautiful open areas hidden between trees. Hilltops where you can look down at the forest beneath you. It almost feels like you are in a fantasy world.9669208681?profile=RESIZE_710x

And it is there where we got the chance to set up our first performances in this course. Between the trees that probably hold more history than we can imagine. We got to take in the wonderful nature around us and let it shape our creativity, to share with the people around us. Up in the hills and down on the field, wildly different ideas and stories were shaped. There is something powerful around using the world around you in performance.

  • Morgan, I'm really pleased that you enjoyed the trip, and that it was so eye-opening for you! If you look carefully in the woodland you will find Hobbit holes!! I think there are more if you go further into the parkland and out towards the peak district. Good performance work too! 😊
