Coming here I was already prepared in terms of this module. In college we made websites and shot showreels and headshots, when this module started I really did want to refine my brand and website as I knew there was still much more I could do to make it look professional. In the first few weeks of this module I can admit I had a lot less work to do on this in comparison to my classmates as I already had the base. In this time I experimented with different fonts and branding before I settled on a pink bubbly pretty aesthetic. I thought this best represented me. Although I had learnt about website building and techniques from my studies at college I still had to adapt my website heavily, for example, due to mine being on google sites instead of wix I had to figure out a way to post my blogs onto it as there was no section for that.
Going into the more practical things for out portfolio building I found so fun having my first experience of doing a duologue for camera was a fun process. I loved the text I got given which was from Hollyoaks. I think I really suit the more naturalistic dialogue and me and my scene partner worked hard at remembering the lines as well as what camera angles we wanted, I think this suits my showreel well. I also enjoyed being behind the camera for both this and the monologues, it was another thing I had not had much experience in so I was thankful and found it interesting as I also love being behind the scenes.
My monologue, I was really comfortable in as I had filmed previously in front a camera for this, I chose one from the notebook as although my range isn't huge between this and my duologue I think its really where I shine and feel confident, and I knew if this was to be put into my existing showreel it would show variety.
Voice acting was something totally new for me in terms of experience and also I had just not really thought about doing it, unless I was a Disney princess. After doing it I didn't know how I felt about it, even though it was interesting and different I still didnt think I'd want to do it in the future. I had the same opinion when experimenting in headphone performance too, I thought I would enjoy being the audience for it however I didnt resonate with being the actor for it.
Foley sound however I really enjoyed. I liked it being a good mix of acting and behind the scenes, both of which I love. I used to watch videos of it when I was younger and think "wow that's how its done" so to be able to do it was really cool, I would defiantly do it again if the opportunity arose.
When I found our our final project was a voice acting one I was a bit panicked as I didnt get on with that concept and doubted my voice's ability however during the table reads of the scripts I did really like all three of them as they were dramatic, dark, and some a bit soap drama esc, to add to my growing excitement of this project I found out my scene partner was Mae, I was happy with this as I know we are both strong passionate actors and can rely on each other, we also have a really good connection in and out of class. The script we got given was Blank by Alice Birch. We rehearsed in many different ways and when it came to recording day I was pretty confident in our piece. Recording this kind of style of script as apposed to the audio book we done in class made me value and have more fun with voice acting, making it something I would do again.
Adding all this new experience alongside my old I feel has really puffed out my website and I really like the way it has came together, I've learned a lot about techniques and styles of acting and tech since being on this course and i feel like by the end of my three years my website will be perfect because of all this base knowledge and development.
