After what seemed like an eternety in lockdown, I welcomed a new chapter in my life....Sheffield Hallam University! A journey which I started at Endcliffe Park, the vibrant green trees, and pollen-scented hayfever hell, a perfect site for my first session.
I started the session fueled by anxiety and excitement, a new environment filled with a variety of new characters, but I had a feeling it was going to be a great three (3) years. We began the session with some ice breaker games and as always they were super awkward at first but soon felt easy, and as if I'd known them for months, we shared some humour, and talked about what we did over the summer.
We then moved onto devising a piece. Armed with creativity leaking from our surrondings myself and the others got to work! Now, obviously by taking one look at the forest we decided that we needed to be a cult, shady and mysterious in nature........get it? ;)
This excersise was honestly a shed load of fun! I loved working in the forest and with the others, even if the odd dog took my attention away from the odd task at hand. Towards the end of the session we had our fully fledged "totally not a cult" cult ritual all ready for performance complete with our very own dragon head log, which was so mystical and ethereal that it wouldn't show up on our primitive camera phones ;)
Overall, we had a great time! One that I will certainly remember, mainly because it left a bruise from falling over onto my ass after I insulted the cult....got my commupence I guess! But I'm sure that everyone else will remeber it too because it was the weird and whacky piece where they had to walk around a tree!

Love this Lou! Very funny writing, and great to know that you had a good time at Endcliffe Park getting to know people. I really enjoyed your group's piece too. Very interactive! 😊
