Mankind's Soundboard

We were given an instruction and introduction to Foley sound, the art of creating sound effects using sometimes bizarre methods that actually create rather genuine sounds. A particular example of this bizarreness was to use the crunching of granola to simulate eating toast. To be honest, I forget toast actually crunches since I barely ending up toasting mine before spreading the butter on, it makes it nice and soft. Lovely stuff.

I did know about this all before but actually being able to do it in person is a very interesting experience. Albeit, unenjoyable because of the short time-slots we had. I hate being rushed about with studio work, though the studio itself was absolutely lovely.

I was partnered with Hallie, Rihanna-Mae and Brandon (I group, I believe, was my first ever grouping on the course) where we had a list of sound effects to create and we chose which ones to do. Again, I chose the granole = toast and also opening a suitcase = fridge opening. I think I had another sound effect but I cannot remember it for the life of me. What I do remember is my impeccable timing with the suitcase, I could've been a drummer if I wasn't riddled with arthritis.

The activity was, overall, very enjoyable. I liked my group. Well, I like everybody on the course so it'd be a win-win regardless of who I was with.
