Morgan- Do it for you

For just a moment, imagine this. A boy from the Netherlands who doesn’t really know what to do in life. He is doing an economics course because that is what he is good at. Can you imagine that? Well forget about that boy, because he doesn’t exist anymore.

Hi, my name is Morgana. I am a transgender woman from the Netherlands who has come to England to become an actor. I am currently enrolled at Sheffield Hallam University where I am learning the in’s and out’s of the career. When I was younger I did not know who I was and what I wanted to do. I just did what was expected of me, and studied what I was good at.

Soon I realized that I did not want to fall into a career just because I was good at it. Over the last few years I started to discover and express myself. I learned about new hobbies like live action roleplay, an event where you embody a whole new person in a different world to our own through improvised acting. I also started using social media to make characters and act out stories with strangers and friends.

Acting and performing brought me a newfound joy in life, allowed me to meet new friends, and I even found a second family. It connected me to so many people and I want to start sharing that with others. I believe that bringing this career to the next level can help others like me learn more about themselves and feel safe and free to be who they want to be. Representation in the media is important, so it’s time to make a change.
