Hi, I’m Amy and I’m 18 from Leeds.
I have done Drama ever since I can remember from doing local community shows to recently becoming a national youth member, drama has always played a big role in my life. A drama environment is where I’ve felt most comfortable in myself and where I’ve have created many of my lifelong friendships as I don't think any other subject brings people together like Drama does.
I joined this course because I like the emphasis of the practical elements and the links it has to theatres. One play that has inspired me is 'the s**t' which was about a probation officer trying to help a young offender after coming out of prison. I thought it was a very powerful, moving play that highlighted how inefficient the prison system is and how the people who are putting in their all to help are often in no position of power and are constantly let down by people higher up in the institution. Political theatre is an area that really interests me.
I'm not entirely sure what I want to do after my degree but I know that I want to work in the creative sector, but I hope the next three years will help me and give me time to decide which avenue I want to go down.
