I believe to be a performer you have to have alot of passion and dedication. from a young age i have felt both of these things whne performing. i always took every oppertunity seriously from taking part in primary school productions and every gcse and alevel drama exam i have done. acting is all i have ever wnated to do the feeling of acting on stage and the supoort of fellow actors and the audience is overwhelming and makes me feel content. Knowing i am putting all of my time and effort into a degree i really really want to do makes me feel content in a filed where the oppertunties are endless however job security is not. the further i went into my acedemic acting career the more i fell in love with what i produce and create. As a matter of inspirations i look up highly to my alevel teachers, the bonds we made with them are lifelong and unbreakable. they supported us through every idea and every rehearseal, never put us down and ensured we reach our full potential as actors.
I chose this program becasue the practical teaching to written work ratio works well with how i have learnt before, and the oppertunaties this course gives me are endless. I aspire to be an impactful performer someone who tells a message within the strory. leaving the audience thinking and mezmorised afterwards. I want every audience member to have their own connection to the performance, to gain something from it. A play that resonates with me is a frantic assembly play, the name being the curious incident of the dog in the nightime. It is a physical theatre play based on a autistic boy named christopher and a journey to find his mum who he was told had passed away. The way they use the lighting and the set to show the way chrisopher was feeling e.g. lifting a blue lit box to show he was unsettled or anxious or red for fury or anger.this stuck with me showing how a light can change the way you percive a situation. it really is the little details that make it. the group work with the lifts and movement showed me that the connection between characters, for a long lasting memory for the audinece, shwoing unity and strength.
i am beyond excited to start my next journey in my acting career at sheffeild hallam and further my skills and make bonds that will surely be unforgetable.

I agree with you Abbie. Passion and dedication are so important to this field of work. The novel version of Curious Incident is one of my favourite reads. I have never seen the frantic assembly version but I imagine it would be cool.
