My name is Haris Sadiq and I'm an aspiring actor in Film and TV. I'm from Burton on Trent and I'm currently doing a degree in Acting and Performance in Sheffield at Sheffield Hallam University. Since I was 4 years old, I've always dreamed of acting in front of people. Throughout school I loved acting in skits and drama lessons as I felt I could show certain sides of myself that I never show otherwise. I took GCSE Drama in school where I developed key acting skills and techniques that were key for the next two years where I undertook a Level 3 Acting course at Burton and South Derbyshire College. There I met a lot of people who were passionate about acting like myself but these two years were also where I discovered a lot about who I am as well. Whether that be my acting style or my different personas around people, I feel I'm reminded each day that I have a lot to learn.
I don't particularly have a background in theatre like most performing arts students, however, I have performed in pantomimes such as Puss in Boots and Snow White as well contemporary pieces, one of which was a community based project and was made for the YMCA to spread awareness and tackle tough issues that people from domestic violence go through and some with no home to go to. I acted out a scene from David Fincher's The Social Network in an Acting Showcase at the Brewhouse Arts Centre in Burton with two others and have also performed monologues both serious and comedic with a lot of inspiration taken from Films and TV Shows. I also watch a lot of Film essays on YouTube in my free time which I find very interesting and engaging in seeing how film scenes are broken down and analysed from a story perspective and learning techniques in filmmaking and storytelling such as parallels in characters and their arcs respectively. Of Mice and Men is a short film that I directed and starred in as part of my final college unit and is just a taste of my craft and going forward, I always want to be creating projects like these that I can express myself through.
Acting to me has evolved from a little game I used to play in school that was funny, to being a creative outlet for me that I want to pursue as a career as well. While on this journey I've learnt things such as I'm not a funny person in general even when I try to be, a lot of the time it's unintentional through me saying dumb things or embrassing myself which I've just learnt to embrace at this point and it's even helped me tackle comedic roles because I have a good idea of how I portray humour in my own way. As an emotional person myself, it's a blessing in disguise that I can bring them out so efficiently within roles where if I feel angry beforehand, then I can channel a lot of that explosive energy and emotion into the role while also expressing the genuine anger I had at the same time. I hope to continue this path and make my audience feel something through my genuine creative expressions on the big screen one day and support those on the same journey.

I love this Haris, great top photo and really well chosen shot from our trip to Endcliffe Park. You write really well, and give a good account of your experiences and your motivations going forwards. I especially like the bit at the end about helping other people along the way. :)
You have used a very inspiring title that catches the eyes of the audience and makes them want to read. The photos you have used are very professional and its great that you have your own headshot. You have also made it clear you want a future in screen acting/ tv. Your grammar and punctuation is correct there is no obvious typing mistakes.
Its amazing to see your passion for performing, it is shown very well in your first blog!!
I agree, Amelie, it's a great catchy title! :)
