Troy De Luca - An Acting Career Under The Magnifying Glass

Hi I’m Troy and this is a quick peek at my brief yet ever growing acting career. During school I was involved in a devised performance based on stories from victims of the Omagh Bombing during the IRA’s campaign. I played the IRA soldier who set the car bomb and allowed the audience to see a different perspective of the tragic event. This serious and sensitive theme was enjoyable to produce and was very different to the genres I would have normally performed at that stage, for example, my GCSE scripted performance was an extract taken from the comedy called ‘Bouncers’, written by playwright John Godber.

Outside of school, I’ve worked with Barnes Film Academy (BFA) on three short films ranging from documentary to horror, all of which have been posted to YouTube; I’ve also worked as a mentor for BFA. In addition, I produced a short documentary about my grandfather’s experiences during WW2 as an entry for Barnes Film Festival (BFF). These progressed my knowledge of the acting industry as I worked both on screen and behind the camera. (Links at the bottom)

Beyond the scope of direct film and theatre work, I have also enjoyed creating animations through stop-motion, line-drawing and a stickman software. Finally, in filming a documentary about my grandfather’s experiences during the Second World War, I was intrigued my research and decided to write a short fictional script called ‘Silence Is Broken’, about a Jewish family trying to escape their town that had recently been occupied by the Nazi’s.

I look forward to refining my skills as an actor and hope to begin building a network within this industry.
