Building a foundation

12245226882?profile=RESIZE_180x180Hi I'm Brandon, I'm 18 and I originally came from Preston before moving to Pontefract before now coming to Sheffield.

As always my first interaction with acting was in primary school stuff and admittedly I wasn't its biggest fan and not a thing I knew much of or wanted to be apart of.

Then along came a day where I watched Captain America: Civil War and something just clicked for me and ultimately was the catalyst to switch my job path into Performing Arts despite taking a while since then to actually get there due to my highschool not having the option to take it as a GCSE.

In truth I would get small chances between then and when my Performing and Production Arts college course began at "New College Pontefract" but they were very far between each and it was only in that course where I began to embrace more of my performance side as the perfect oppurtunity arised where for the college performance of "Night of the Musicals", being a bunch of musical songs slotted together in the time frame the people doing it had someone drop out to which I took the jump into the role and it was great despite having only 4 weeks to learn it all and from then on, with some definite hiccups in the course itself I made it out ready to push on even into stage which I had previously dismissed as an option.

Now I'm here at university ultimately ready to mould my skills into the best of their ability to then get out into the world and officially start a career that'll challenge me the way I hope it will with the aims of getting into screen, voice and even stage acting.

  • Really great to have you on board, Brandon. It sounds like you really came into your own during the Night of Musicals. It'll be fun to see where you go while you're here at SHU.

  • Your journey into performing arts is a testament to your evolving passion and determination. While your first interaction with acting in primary school wasn't the most enthusiastic, a pivotal moment watching Captain America: Civil War ignited your interest and led you to switch your career path. Despite the challenges of limited opportunities in high school, you persevered, and your Performing and Production Arts college course provided the perfect chance to embrace your performance side. Taking on the role in Night of the Musicals with just four weeks to prepare was a bold step that paid off. Your willingness to explore stage acting, even after initially dismissing it, reflects your growing dedication to the craft. Now, as you embark on your university journey, your determination to mould your skills and pursue screen, voice, and stage acting is commendable. You're poised to face the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in your career. Welcome to the course!
